Is it a past life… or an ancestral?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to the mystery of the soul’s journey across time. Certain places feel eerily familiar. Some people too. A sense of recognition that’s hard to explain, but impossible to ignore.

Lately, I’ve been sitting with a deeper question, whether these feelings come from a past life, or whether they’re ancestral memories carried through land, lineage, and the body.

I’ve just returned from a week in Ireland, where I was learning keening – an ancient lamentation practice and death ritual – and reconnecting with the land of my ancestry. Being there stirred something wordless, deep and familiar in me. The same feeling I had when I first found myself there at 18, fresh out of school, on a pilgrimage I didn’t yet have language for.

Some remembering comes from the soul.
Some comes from the bones.
And sometimes, it’s both.

I’ve come to understand that when a land keeps calling us, again and again, sometimes it’s soul memory, and sometimes it’s of the body.

I think that’s what called me to Glastonbury and still feel so moved as you drive into the town and it says “Welcome to the ancient isle of Avalon’. It is a land layered with myth, sacred wisdom, and devotion to the Goddess. Living here feels like a daily conversation between past, present, and future and over the past seven years it has been teaching me so much.
